This post give an example on how you can read live events in the astrological transits occuring for the person involved.
My Grandfather was born on in Denmark on January 27th, 1910. An Aquarius. He was the oldest of 10 children. His mother died early, though I am not sure precisely when. The family lived on a farm, which has stayed within the family since. They lived in a smaller home on the farm and in the main house a widow lived all by herself. My grandfather was the only person who was able to have small
conversations with the older lady in the house. He had a great dream of immigrating to America, but he had no money. He asked the Lady of the house for financing his trip to America, but she wouldn’t.
However, after a couple of conversations she suddenly consented to pay his ticket. It was during the winter of 1928/1929, and my grandfather’s north node was conjunction a north node transit, and he had a transiting Jupiter conjunction with his natal mars. Typically a north node returning to the natal north node represents a time for live changing events and opportunities for change and growth – read more here: North Node in Astrology | Cafe Astrology .com. The Jupiter transit supported a simultaneous activates heightened energy and potential growth. A perfect time to move abroad.
Transits during the event of going abroad
On February 1st 1929, he received his visa from Copenhagen. On April 22nd he arrived to New York harbor. During this time transiting Neptune made a conjunction to his natal moon, and transiting Pluto made a conjunction to his natal Neptune. Thus, there must have been something illusionary, vague and distant about this immigration – something unreal, since the influence of Neptune activates illusions and spirituality – see more here: Neptune Transits to the Natal Chart | Cafe Astrology .com
Maybe my grandfather realized subconsciously that this was just going to be for a short period of his life. Because that was how it unfortunately unwillingly ended – however not until 5 years later. Or maybe the Neptune influence made something unreal come true.
Establishing a new live in America
My grandfather got a job on a farm on Long Island where he should weed different crops. He didn’t particularly like it, but he engaged in it in order to make a living. After a while he got a new job as a milkman for a smaller Long Island company, and finally he ended up as a milkman for Sheffield farm. He did really well at Sheffield, and he continuously assisted his manager in improving business. He was well liked and he got a lot of customers. I don’t know the time of his birth, so I can’t identify his ascendant and houses. But he had mars trine moon which may have made him generally content with what he did and thus how he behaved towards other people.
The turning point – Pluto in action
During the winter of 1933/34, he decided to go back to Denmark for a visit. He was now 24 years old. He got an American visa, since he was now an American citizen, and he travelled home. During this visit he met my grandmother. Transiting north node was conjunct his progressed Venus!! (read more about venus in love Venus in romantic meetings. They spend the rest of their lives together until his death in 1990 where he was 80 years old. They had a wonderful relationship, but that is a different story. They agreed that my grandfather was going back to America (and I write America since that is what he always called the US). My grandmother would then apply for a visa in Copenhagen and come later. My grandfather entered New York harbor on May 4th 1934. A devastating day which smashed his life! As the ship moored, two men were standing jumping on the ship to give him a telegram. On the telegram it said. ‘Father is dead. Come home!’. My Grandfather never made it back into New York or his home on Long Island. He turned around and asked the captain on the ship, if he could take him with him back to Denmark. He would do work on the ship for that. And so, my grandfather took the same ship back to Denmark. Transiting Pluto was exactly opposite his natal sun, and transiting Saturn made a conjunction to his natal Chiron. To understand this power challenge and live changing events of Pluto see my other post on Pluto. At that time you were not competent of age until 24 years. Since he was the oldest of his siblings, he had to take care of his siblings – some of them were much younger – in order to prevent that they went to a foster home.
The aftermath
In the beginning he thought he would eventually go back to America, but he never did. Some years after came the Second World War and it became impossible. My grandparents had five children and a wonderful life together, BUT he never forgot America. Until the day he died, he always told stories starting with the phrase, ‘When I was a milkman on Long Island…’. What a life and what a time. In his natal chart he had moon opposing Chiron and square north node. I am not sure if that explains his destiny, but what a tough and sad call in life…. Definitely puts modern life into perspective!
